RIO…..Here we come!

Having had emotional send offs from family  and Wey Kayak club members, watered the garden one more time and said her farewells to the hens,  Rachel has flown to Rio with the rest of the Kayaking team, to spend 2 weeks in the pre-olympic holding camp. It was a very long flight, eased by the long awaited arrival of another  Harry Potter volume!

TEAM GB

Rachel is very proud to have been  selected to be part of Team GB, to represent her sport, her country at the Rio Olympics 2016. A dream come true!

 

2016 international races

This year Rachel, competing in both the K1 and K4 boats,  at World Cup one in Duisburg, World Cup 2 in Racice and the European Championships in Moscow has achieved a sound start to the season.

DSC_4060Back in April, having  completed the domestic selection races Rachel was very happy to have won the WK1 500m. One step closer to her  Rio Olympic dream!

 

 

Belcher and Cawthorn first in semi and qualify for k2 500m final at 2014 European Championships

Rachel Cawthorn and Lani Belcher qualify for the k2 500m at the European Championships this weekend.

Brandenburg 2014 is shaping up to be a fantastic competition for Rachel and Lani after they finished first in their semi final on Friday afternoon. The final is on Sunday 16:00 local time.

GB sprint paddlers picked up two silvers and a bronze medal in Racice today bringing their medal tally to four at the team’s first World Cup of the season.

London Olympic bronze medallist Liam Heath won silver in the K1 200, whilst the pairing of Rachel Cawthorn and Lani Belcher added a further silver in K2 200.
